Who we are

The Oregon Students Foundation, of the Oregon Community Foundation, is a group of students from across Oregon dedicated to financially supporting student-run initiatives. The student advisory board hopes to represent the many perspectives throughout Oregon.

How are we different?

Oregon Students Foundation is created by students for students.

Oregon Students Foundation seeks to change the dynamic where school funding and extracurricular programming are determined and often limited by adults, large school budgets, and competing resources.  Our organization has a student advisory board from across the state representing a broad range of schools and students, so our work reflects the needs of students within Oregon schools and student-run programs. With this student-focused approach, we emphasize leadership opportunities for students who will be the next generation of leaders.  Our work is simple; students representing a student initiative will apply for grant funding from the Oregon Students Foundation.  A student-run grant-making committee will review and approve grants in support of their fellow students.

Why?

Typically student organizations are the last to receive funding in a school budget. A lack of funding limits students’ potential and does not let students capitalize on their goals. As students, we have faced this many times and have been frustrated when we could not achieve our goals because of financial limitations. To combat this issue we were inspired to establish a program to give students financial resources.
